Members of European network Ecsite to meet in Heilbronn in 2022

After Copenhagen, Geneva, Porto and Graz, the annual conference of Ecsite, the European Collaborative of Science Centres and Museums will take place in Heilbronn in the summer of 2022. The conference is considered one of the largest on professional science communication in Europe. More than 350 science centers, museums and scientific cultural institutions are currently part of the Ecsite network. Ecsite’s mission is to promote a passion for science as well as to emphasize the credibility and relevance of research.

New ways of facilitating knowledge
experimenta in Heilbronn with its innovative exhibitions, one-of-a-kind Science Dome and observatory and high-quality fully-equipped labs and student research center as well as the Forum and the Maker Space is an ideal platform for exchanging ideas on questions dealing with facilitating knowledge of science today. „We look forward to presenting our diverse offerings to guests from around the world and to work with them to develop new forms of science communication. At the same time, as a novel concept for the conference, we will actively involve the public in the discussions,“ states Dr. Wolfgang Hansch, experimenta’s Managing Director, in explaining the idea behind the conference. He adds: „We are proud that we were able to convince the jury of experimenta’s suitability as organizer. It is also recognition of the work we have done to date on our exhibitions. We can already promise a unique experience for participants, the city, and the region.“

Around 1,100 participants from more than 50 countries are expected to attend the Ecsite annual conference in Heilbronn in 2022. In addition to experimenta’s premises, consisting of the new building with its spectacular architecture and the renovated Hagenbucher granary, individual event formats will be held at the educational campus. The heart of the conference will be a tent city erected specially for Ecsite 2022 on the grounds of the traditional Theresienwiese festival grounds. The tent city is a campus that will always have create opportunities for encounters and personal exchanges despite scheduled workshops and information sessions.
