Welcome to experimenta! With us you can go on a voyage of discovery. Find out more about the world and yourself. Experiment in our exhibition at around 275 interactive stations. Immerse yourself in topics in an entirely new way in our Science Dome. Marvel at our changing special exhibitions and conduct research in our laboratories and test kitchen. Get involved and create your own project: in our Maker Pace and the sfz Student Research Center. We look forward to seeing you!

Booking

To ensure the highest possible quality of stay, the maximum number of people in experimenta is limited. We therefore recommend that all visitors (including those with annual tickets) book tickets online in advance. You will find an indication of the expected capacity of experimenta and thus the availability of tickets at the top of the homepage. Every morning there is still a limited number of tickets available directly at the ticket office – only while stocks last.

The assortment is appropriate to the themes in the experimenta. The shop is barrier-free and allows everyone to browse and shop.

Accessibility

Accessibility is important to us. The entire experimenta facility (including restaurants, Science Dome, and observatory) is thus wheelchair accessible. All levels (identified by tactile elements) can be reached by elevator. Most interactive stations can also be used by people in wheelchairs. There are also several toilettes for the disabled in both experimenta buildings. There is also a “toilet for all” with adult changing station and patient lift that can also be used without an admission ticket during opening hours. The routes to the parking garage and to the bus and railway stops are accessible. We also offer wheelchairs for use during the duration of the stay.

Age recommendation

There is no age limit for experimenta. Whether 3 or 103 – with us everyone will find exciting and interesting offerings. For younger children we especially recommend the ForscherLand on the fourth level. Children 12 and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian or adult.

Animals

Except for guide dogs for the blind or disabled, animals are not allowed anywhere in experimenta.

Arrival

From Heilbronn train station to experimenta is about a 7-minute walk. The city railway stop “Kurt-Schumacher-Platz” is only a few meters from experimenta. The nearby experimenta parking garage offers spaces for cars. Parking spaces for busses are located directly adjacent to the experimenta parking garage.

Changing tables can be found near the lockers on the ground floor and in the disabled toilets on levels 2 and 4.

Children’s birthday

The children’s birthday parties can be booked on Monday, Wednesday and Friday on school days. // Duration: 2 – 2.5 hours // Early booking is recommended. Cost: 12 € per child, minimum 5 children (60 €), maximum 10 children; 2 required accompanying persons free; each additional accompanying person 11 €.

Digital backpack

In the digital backpack, you can save many digital products (photos, music, videos) by means of an RFID chip integrated into the visitor armband. During your visit you can look at all the works and print out images and photos at the visitor stations in the foyers of levels 1 to 4. To be able to access the data at home you need to register when you first visit or log in to an existing experimenta account on site. You can use the same login data that you used when booking your ticket online.

Many visitors need a whole day to properly explore experimenta with its many offerings. For those with less time, we recommend planning at least half a day at the center for their first visit.

Unfortunately, at the present time eating is not allowed anywhere in experimenta other that the restaurant. The restaurant is open for visitors on weekdays from 11:00 am to 5:30 pm and on weekends and holidays until 6:30 pm.

You can redeem gift certificates in experimenta at the cash desk or in the webshop during the payment process (field “Gutenhabenkarte”).

Guided tours

We do not offer guided tours. At experimenta you yourself are a world discoverer. With various tour suggestions on different thematic areas, you can explore experimenta independently. The tours can either be printed out on site or you can follow our digital guidance system to the relevant stations. For questions and tips our visitor guides are always available. For groups of 12 or more, we offer various thematic tours that must be requested and booked in advance.

Jackets, coats, bags, and backpacks

Jackets, coats, bags, and backpacks cannot be brought into experimenta. Please store them during your visit in one of the lockers.

Lockers

Lockers can be found on experimenta’s ground floor and lower level. They are wheelchair accessible and can be used during opening hours for a deposit (.50€ or 1€). For school classes and kindergarten groups, we offer locking boxes for storing coats and bags. On very heavily visited days it can sometimes happen that all the lockers fill up. We cannot assume liability for the lockers’ contents.

Lost items

Lost items are turned in to the ticket counter on the ground floor and kept there for eight weeks.

Medical implants

Interactive stations in the experimenta exhibition that can impair the functioning of medical implants are identified as such.

Parking

If you arrive by car you can park at the experimenta parking garage (address: Bahnhofstrasse 6, 74072 Heilbronn). Visitors to experimenta pay a reduced daily rate of 3 Euros. To obtain the discount, the ticket must be validated at the experimenta ticket counter and is valid for a half hour after leaving experimenta.

Photo/film shoots

Filming and photography for private uses are allowed. But a person’s right to their own image must be respected; thus especially images showing people as more than just background filler are not permitted without their consent. Film and photography for commercial purposes are not allowed at experimenta.
