They offer comfort, give advice, and make you feel like you’re being taken seriously: AI chatbots are now capable of having emotional conversations. But what actually determines whether we experience a conversation as empathetic and intimate? Is it the response, or who we perceive as our conversation partner? Bastian Schiller, Professor of Clinical Psychology at the Department of Psychology at Heidelberg University, will answer these questions at the Robert Mayer Lecture on June 9.

Our new fulldome production “My Friend Roxy” tells the story of Lizzi, who finds a broken robot on her way to school and embarks on an adventure full of technology, friendship, and curiosity. Together with her grandmother, she repairs the robot girl Roxy and teaches her about the world. In the process, Lizzi herself learns a lot about artificial intelligence, computers, and data protection.
